About the City of Laguna Niguel 

Introduction
Incorporated on December 1, 1989 Laguna Niguel became the 29th city in Orange County. Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego (60 Miles each direction) and halfway between Newport Beach and San Clemente, Laguna Niguel has become the heartland of Orange County's Gold coast. As one of the county's finest communities, Laguna Niguel spans 9,421 acres (13.8 square miles). Surrounded by Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Aliso Viejo and Mission Viejo, this beautiful residential community abounds with a variety of shops, businesses, and recreational areas. Laguna Niguel's proximity to the coast provides an ideal climate that allows year-round outdoor enjoyment of its beautiful parks and nearby attractions.

Parks & Education
Some of Laguna Niguel's most coveted amenities are the numerous neighborhood, community and regional parks. Laguna Niguel is home to 29 parks enjoyed by residents as well as those visiting the city. The public school system, Capistrano Unified School District, has six elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools that serve our community.

Business License Fees
No business license is required, but you must have an "Occupancy Permit" for commercial businesses, $49, and for home-based businesses a home occupancy permit, $27.
